Biography
Tunde Gbajumo is the Deputy Chief of Party for Nigeria Power Sector Program (NPSP), Power Africa’s signature initiative for Nigeria and supports comprehensive power sector reform, a strengthened enabling environment, and increased private sector investment as critical pillars to improving Nigeria’s access to affordable, reliable power. Prior to this role, he was CEO and Board Member of Symbion Power, Nigeria managing its investment in the 975MW Ughelli Power Plant, developing 140MW in Nigeria, 450MW in Ghana and 100MW in Equatorial Guinea.
His previous appointment as Commercial Director/ Board Member of AES Nigeria Barge Limited (subsidiary of AES Corporation, USA) involved overseeing the development of the 300MW AES power plant in Lagos which is acknowledged as the first Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Nigeria. In that role, he participated in the first non-government project finance deal in the Nigerian power sector. His 26 years career in IPP development and Finance, spans across Nigeria, Ghana, Mauritania, Tanzania, Liberia and Republic of Benin.
Since 2003, he has participated in several consultative forums with the highest levels of the Nigerian Government on power sector reform. He was member of the Energy Committee of the Nigerian Presidential Vision 2020 Program where he co-authored the report that led to the power sector reform program. He has a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Wales and B.Sc. (Econ) in Accounting and Financial Management.
