Biography

Tombo holds a MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge and a MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London. She is a chartered engineer registered with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers UK. Based in Nairobi, she leads CrossBoundary’s Mini-Grid Innovation Lab, which is pioneering the transition to a decentralized ‘power grid of the future’. Tombo also leads CrossBoundary’s initiative “EVx” designed to scale the EV sector.

Prior to joining CrossBoundary, she worked as a Consultant in McKinsey & Company’s Addis Ababa office, where she advised clients in the public and social sector in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, and Uganda.
