Biography

Kato Mukuru joined EFG Hermes in mid-2017 as the Head of Frontier Research to lead the expansion of our research offering across our core Frontier markets in Sub-Sahara African (SSA) and South East Asia. Kato’s SSA & Frontier research teams have been ranked #1 by the Financial Mail and Extel for the past two years (2018-19). In 2019, Kato ranked #2 in the Extel Frontier survey.

Kato has 20 years of experience in investment banking in New York, London, Madrid, Lagos and Dubai. The first four years were in corporate finance and the last fifteen years have been in research, where he have covered European, South Asian, African and Middle Eastern banks and insurance stocks. The previous research teams managed by Kato have been ranked top in SSA and amongst the top 3 across the Frontier universe.
