Biography

Jonathan has over 30 years’ experience of emerging markets finance, particularly in the energy, infrastructure and resources sectors. He currently heads Autonomi, which has advised on assignments across 15 countries in Africa, and he is also an investment committee member of funds specialising in the renewable energy sector.

His previous roles included CEO of Deutsche Bank Johannesburg Branch and Head of Merchant Banking for Barclays Africa, Director US Utilities Investment Banking for Barclays and regional investment banking roles with Barclays Hong Kong and Singapore. He has a strong interest in local financial market development and has pioneered domestic bond issues in several countries, and was a board member of the Bond Exchange of South Africa, overseeing its sale to the JSE.  Jonathan is a graduate of Oxford University.
