Biography

Jason is a serial entrepreneur and DAO builder, speaker, author, and recovering consultant. In 2017 he co-founded UTU Technologies, where he currently serves as CEO, building the trust infrastructure of the internet. In 2013 he founded MARAMOJA Transport, the oldest taxi app in Africa, serving as CEO until 2017 when he transitioned to their board, where he still serves as chairperson. In 2018, Jason founded UTU House, a community space for AI and Blockchain projects in Nairobi, Kenya and in 2020 co-founded BitLipa, as a pan-African on/off-ramp for digital assets. He’s also a core instigator of The Africa Defi Alliance focused on building African Defi Infrastructure and , Safari DAO, building, promoting, and supporting the African Web3 ecosystem. He also started artSTORM.nft, transforming brown urban spaces into green art spaces. He mentors and serves on the advisory boards of a number of African tech startups.

e holds a BA in International Relations and Spanish/Latin American Studies, with a minor in Applied Physics from The American University in Washington, DC. He is the co-author with the late Julian Bond of “The Price of Freedom,” a collection of oral histories from the US civil rights movement. Jason is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
