Biography

Zin Bekkali is the CEO and founder of Silk Invest, a specialist investment manager focused on frontier markets and Africa. Silk Invest has been built around a deep consumer thesis with local team members based in a number of key frontier markets. Its African food fund was one of the first dedicated funds focusing on consumer food companies in Africa and has investments in Nigeria, Egypt and Ethiopia. Prior to Silk Invest, Zin worked in various sectors including asset management, strategy consulting and the food industry. His prior employers include ING Investment Management, Bain, Ahold and Fortis Investments. Zin Bekkali obtained his MSc in applied Econometrics from the University of Amsterdam, has completed his MBA at London Business School and is CFA Charterholder.
