Biography

Alvaro has been part of the Speedinvest Growth Markets practice since inception and for the past 5 years. Having made investment across Africa, Latin America, Middle East, South Asia and Europe, Alvaro has a global view on what successful fintech models look like. Alvaro’s strategy within the fund has backed market leaders such as Moove, Fairmoney, ShopUp, Abhi and Open among many others. After trying his hand as a co-founder of an Edtech startup in Mexico, and seeing the difficulties that entrepreneurs can face along the journey, he became passionate about supporting the ecosystem through an investment career at the Fund.
