Biography

Guy Baron is the Director, Head of Investment at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI), leading investment related activities across TBI’s footprint of 17 countries in Africa.

Prior to his current role, Guy was Chief Investment Officer of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Rwanda’s Investment Promotion & Private Sector Development Agency. Appointed by Cabinet in 2018, Guy was charged with overseeing investment activity in the country, by strategic, financial and private investors, across all sectors.

Previously, Guy spent 22 years in Investment Banking and Institutional Research in the leveraged finance capital markets. Including as a Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets and a Director at Deutsche Bank and at Credit Suisse, focused on both advisory and research. Guy is an alum of Boston University and Harvard Business School.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Guy lived in the U.S. for 25 years and in Rwanda starting in 2017. Guy co-founded SCALE Africa in 2007, a non-profit organization to design and build rural primary schools in Zambia and serves on a number of boards.
