Biography

George Kibala Bauer is Acting Director in the GSMA Digital Utilities, which seeks to enable access to essential utility services through digital solutions and innovative partnerships. His recently published report Digital Solutions for the Urban Poor, looks at how urban innovations across Africa and Asia are helping to improve basic service provision in the context of rapid urbanisation. At GSMA, George focuses on managing strategic partnerships, engaging key stakeholders, and conducting research at the intersection of innovation, and urban development.

Prior to joining the GSMA, George gained experience in economic research, strategic communications, and government affairs. He also contributed to a European Investment Bank project on private sector development in fragile states.

George holds a MSc in International Economic Policy from Sciences Po Paris, a BA in Economics from McGill University, and a certificate on Development and Planning African Cities from University College London.
