Biography

Susan has spent her career building businesses either focused on or located in global emerging markets, primarily Africa. After having been called the Bar in Canada, Susan’s early work experience included senior management roles with JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs. In 1997, Susan co-founded a hedge fund focused on emerging markets, as well as helping to develop the firm’s real assets division in Africa. Susan has spent the last decade involved in developing food production and delivery systems in southern Africa and, in 2016, co-founded and manages Holistic Agricultural Investments Group Ltd which buys, advises on and operates agricultural projects in Africa.

Susan was awarded a Shell UK Woman of the Future Award in 2006 and in 2007 and 2008 was listed by Financial News as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in European Finance. She was a member of the World Bank Supervisory Committee that established Guidelines on Global Agricultural Practises as well as on the UN FAO Advisory Council on Private Investment into Agriculture.

Susan has a BA Hons, MA, LLB and MBA certificate and has studied at Oxford University, St Andrews, McGill University and London School of Economics.
